Who I Am

My name's Chris and I’m a writer, listener, doodler, record and cassette enthusiast, bike rider, obsessive music nerd, lover of strong coffee, good books, and contemporary art, but above all else, I’m passionate about innovative and creative advertising.

I became interested in advertising during my sophomore year of college at The University of Texas at Austin and have been inspired by the limitless possibilities of the advertising industry ever since. I realized I could use the writing skills I had developed while tirelessly blogging about music in my dorm room towards a career as a copywriter, so I dove headfirst into a creative advertising degree. I am enrolled in UT's portfolio sequence for creatively focused advertising majors and am have gained invaluable experience from the program.

Although I live to write and am fully dedicated to creative advertising, it's not the only thing that defines me. I play bass in a shoegaze band called Hola Beach and serve as the booking director for 91.7 FM KVRX Austin, UT's only completely student run radio station. I book bands for KVRX's live concerts and KVRX's Local Live program, which features bands performing in our studio on live TV and on the air. I've booked some of Austin's most innovative bands including Institute, Glue, Ghetto Ghouls, and Total Abuse and have gotten lots of positive feedback regarding the high quality of the Local Live program while I've served as booking director.

But when it comes down to it, Advertising is what drives me. I want to create work that gives people a reason to stop, laugh, think, or simply pay attention and I'm ready to go far in this industry.
